Rebecca Ferree was born in the village of Salona, in Clinton County, Pennsylvania on November 6, 1799. When she was still an infant, her parents died and she was taken by her grandparents to the village of Strasburg, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where she was raised until she was 18 years old (1817). She then went to live with her "Aunt Barnett" for one year probably in the village of Lancaster.

Following Jacob's death in 1877, Rebecca went back to St. Louis and lived with her son Charles, where she stayed for about a year. Then her "business called" her to the "home of her birth Clinton County, Pennsylvania finding all old companions gone". At this point in her life, she reported that she had "3 sons and 2 daughters thats in the spirit world". She was now 78 years old and had nothing left to hold her in Pennsylvania.

Rebecca returned to the home of her son, Charles, at 3415 Washington in St. Louis in 1878. She became ill shortly before Thanksgiving in 1880 and Charles sent for Albert, who came from Ft. San Diego, Texas with his family and was with her when she died at the age of 81 on December 18, 1880.
