Raymond was a 1931 graduate of the University of Wichita, where he was a Liberal Arts major and the President of Zeta Delta Epsilon Fraternity during his senior year. He was employed as a doorman at the Orpheum Theater in Wichita and was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. Raymond died at the age of 21 on June 28, 1931 as a result of accidental drowning at Sandy Beach located on south Seneca Street, which was then 6 miles south of Wichita, Kansas.
