Ray Kemerer

ZWINGLE, Iowa -- Services for Ray A. Kemerer, 17545 Washington Mills Road, Zwingle, will be at 1 pm Wednesday at Harmony United Church of Christ, Zwingle.

Burial will be Harmony Cemetery, Zwingle. Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm today at Egelhof-Casper-Streuber Funeral Home, 1145 Locust St., Dubuque, and noon Wednesday at the church.

He farmed most of his life on the family farm.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1908, in Zwingle, son of Bert and Annastasia (Staub) Kemerer. He died at 12:30 am Monday, May 23, 1994, at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.

He married Catherine Regan on April 2, 1945.

He was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ, Zwingle. He was an historian of Case Steam Engines & The Bellevue to Cascade Narrow Gauge Railroad Train.

Surviving are his wife Catherine; three daughters, Kathleen (Gerry) Lyons of Bernard, Carol (Joe) Murgula and Helen (Kerry) Reisen, both of Zwingle; a son, Ray "Butch" Kemerer Jr., at home; seven grandchildren, Mike, Al, Sara and Sue Lyons, Amy (Lyons) Herrig and Jennifer and Frank Reisen.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

A Ray A. Kemerer Memorial Fund has been established.
