[edit] Revolutionary Service DeclarationPension Record Declaration of Randal Fugate In order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress, Commonwealth of Kentucky (Circuit Court for the county of Scott), On this 27th day of August 1832 personally appeared in open Court, before the judge of Scott Circuit Court now sitting, Randall F. Fugate of the County of Scott & State of Kentucky, aged 70 years, who gbeing first duly sworn according to law, doth on this oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7, 1832. That the said Randal F. Fugate of Scott County State aforesad states that he was born 26th January 1762 in Frederick County, Virginia & during the Revolutionary War he lived in Montgomery County, Virginia on New River. In 1777 he served a six months tour in guarding the frontier against Indians & Tories and particularly to keep the latter from taking the le mines, named Chissells mines. I served in the Company of Capt. Crocket & Col Joseph Cloyd was the commanding Colone. In 1778 he served the 2nd Tour of six months under Capt. Edwards. Mr. Colby was Lieutenant., John Ingram was Sergeant, Col Joseph Cloyd commanded. The object of the expedition was to guard the frontiers from the Shawnee Indians and other combined with them. He served a 3rd tour of six months in 1780 under Capt. James Gibson & Robert Tate Lieutenant & James McFarlin Sergeant's troops now of which I was part this tour was stationed at the Rye Cove & Blackamore old Fort about ten miles apart on Clinch River. In 1782 he served 4th tour of six months, his father Capt. Johnas Fugate commanded the Company Henry Smith Col. John Evins was our ensighn. Many Smith Sergeant stationed principally upon the Tug Fork of Sandy scounted & protected the Frontier from the Indians. On 24 March we had a hard & long fight with Indians on Big Sandy near the Ohio River which lasted all day & part of the night we had a kind of garrison the Indians attemmpted to burns us up at night.
