  14. ↑ Ralph was riding to work with another man. As they approached an oncomingsemi-trailer a teenager pulled out in an effort to pass the semi. Boththe Ralph's driver and the teenager went off the road in a effort toavoid contact, but this in fact ended in a head-on colllision. Ralph wasthrown forward, hitting his head on the dashboard. He was in intensivecare for many weeks and the family was told he may not survive. Ralphdid live through the wreck but was legally blind, and unable to work tosupport his family as a result
