In Albion, Wis., Dec. 4th, 1880, of pneumonia, Rachel Potter, widow of Dea., Joseph A. Potter, in the 88th year of her age. She was born in Grafton, Rensselaer Co., N. Y., May 27th, 1793. She became a Christian in early life, and united with the Seventh-day Baptist Church of Petersburgh, N. Y. Subsequently moving to Verona, N. Y., she became identified with the church there. In the year 1848, she, with her family, came to Albion, Wis., and united with the Seventh-day Baptist Church at this place, and continued a consistent faithful member thereof until her removal to the church triumphant.
Few women have possessed such excellence of character, or have lived lives more worthy of imitation than she. Quiet and unassuming, she ever sought to emulate the good, the true, and the noble. Though gone, she leaves behind a precious legacy.
