  • died of hydrophobia from a rabid fox bite ; was smothered between two feather beds
  • Her death has become a popular legend in Eastern Shore folklore. The millstone at "Warwick" on which she stood when bitten by the rabid fox often shows her red bloodstains when water is poured on it. She developed hydrophobia nine days later.
