She was educated at Morning Star school and then trained as a secretary in Lethbridge. She married Leland Wilson in 1928 and lived on a farm near Burdett. They raised two children, Dor and Sharon. Dora was married in 1946 to Donald Warren, but Sharon was still in school when Leland died in 1955. Rachel bought a house in Burdett and worked in the Post Office there. She also took in boarders. Dora and don moved into the house on the farm. Over the years it has been buiolt onto many times. In the fall of 1994 they bought a home in Bow Island but still had not sold the farm. In 1963 Rachel married Oscar Torgerson and they continued to live in her home in Burdett. They built a small house on Oscar's farm where they spent the summers. Oscar continues to live in Burdett.
