Uncertain Lineage
There is no obvious evidence available online to place Rachel in the family of Sergeant Thomas Clarke, blacksmith, and his wife Elizabeth or the family of Captain Thomas Clarke, shopkeeper, and his wife Elizabeth. Savage[4] makes a distinction between the two families, and places Rachel in the family of the blacksmith (on what evidence, if any, is unknown). Thwing[5] conflates the two families, so is unhelpful in this regard.
Leah (Clark) Baker, daughter of Captain Thomas Clarke, shopkeeper, and his wife Elizabeth, had a daughter named Rachel, which suggests the possibility that Rachel Clark was her sister, but this is by no means definitive. If Leah's sister Elizabeth was born before their sister Deborah (a reasonable possibility), there was room for Rachel in this family.
