Residence Richmond, VA.; 38 years old. Enlisted on 6/16/1863, he was mustered into Captain S.F. Sutherland's Company as a Private on 6/20/1863. This Company was redesignated Company E, 3rd Virginia Infantry Local Defense on 6/29/1863. Discharged 4/30/1864 with permanent exemption.

The 3rd Infantry Regiment Local Defense Troops was organized in September, 1864, from the 3rd (Departmental) Infantry Battalion Local Defense Troops.
