Amos Newton m. Soutborough 26 Apr 1749 Prudence Bellows, d/o John Jr and Sarah Bellows. She is mentioned in her father's will, filed 13 Aug 1772, as "Widow of Amos Newton".
[Contradictorily, on p. 69, Prudence Bellows is shown as first wife of Amos, son of John Newton, with Amos remarrying Mrs. Jane Giles. This is an obvious error. The Amos son of John who m. (2) 1762 Mrs Jane Giles lived until 1814, both of which facts show he is not the one referred to in the 1772 will cited.]
