Polly Melendy [#294], s/o Samuel Melendy [#9] and Sarah Gale, b. Guilford, VT, 30 Jan 1786, m. Guilford, VT, 28 Jan 1808 John Moore Jr. of Warwick, MA, s/o John Moore.
[Note: see the following note discussing the erroneous death date given by this source.]

  4.   Rumors of Polly's demise seem to be widespread. The correspondence between the birthdates and places in the Pennsylvania censuses cited strongly suggests she was living in 1860, and perhaps, as suggested by the text describing a gravestone claimed to be her husband's, she died 1861 in Pennsylvania.

Source:Allred, Marilyn. Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 190, says the John Moore Jr. of Warwick m. Polly Melendy "who d. 1 Dec 1834". This is a careless error by Allred as both the town record and the gravestone clearly identify the Polly Moore who died that date as the wife of William L. Moore.

Source:George, Georgia Rosamond Anderson Cook. Melendy Family in America, 1701-1981, p. 146, says Polly d. "2 May 1809 Warwick, MA at childbirth. Her son lived until 6 Mar 1810". The death in the Warwick records on 2 May 1809 is for "Mrs Nabby Moore" (Vol. 2, p. 176), who is wife of Jonathan Moore Jr.. It was their son Francis who died in 1810, not a child of John and Polly (Vol. 2, p.1 58).

Further, the two children ascribed by this source to John Moore, "by 2nd wife", John Harvey Moore (bottom record, p. 34) and Jedediah Harris Moore (bottom record, p. 67) probably belong to an entirely different John and Polly Moore ("by 2nd wife"?) since, besides their woeful research so far, this John and Polly appear to have resided in New York at that time, not Vermont (1820 census in Bainbridge, Chenango, NY, of John Moore Ju'r aged 25-44; Chenango deed Vol. LL, p. 448 John Moore of Bainbridge buying part of lot 34, 51 acres, in 1828; Vol. RR, p. 233 in 1832 John Moore of Bainbridge and Polly his wife selling part of lot 34 containing 40 acres reserving half an acre; Vol RR, p. 235, selling part of lot 34 amounting to about 11 acres, plus another 1/2 acre.) Presumably they followed Polly's father Samuel Melendy to Jericho, NY, later Bainbridge.
