Polly was from Jersey and worked in a pastry shop there as a single woman, hence the tale of a local woman who -"every time she entered the shop would point at a pie and say "oo's in there ?" until one day ( fed up ) Polly replied "the Duke of York" to which the woman retorted " then I will have the Duke of York" ". Polly was obviously not French ! My Grandpa, Tom, remembered a 'cousin' from Jersey known as Andy ( because his surname was Andoin ), this was probably Leon who Olive used to see in Chiswick, I guess he was a nephew of Polly's. She was very short.
