Info from Claiborne Co. Deed Book S page 694 LDS microfilm 0898408: Pleasant Owens Deed to P. Critchfield 80 acres State of Tennessee} Claiborne County} Personally appeared before me Thos J. Johnson, Clerk of the county Court of Claiborne County Pleasant Owens with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledges the Execution of the above deed for the purposes therein contained upon the 6th day of August 1846 witness my hand at office in Tazewell the 7th day of August 1846. Thos J., Johnson Clerk. This Indenture made this Sixteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four by and between Pleasant Owens of the County of Claiborne and State of Tennessee of the one part and Providence Critchfield of the County and State affore sd of the other part, Witnesseth that for in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to him in hand paid or securded, to be paid the Receipt is hereby fully acknowledged haith bargined Sold and by these presant, doth bargin Sell and Convey unto the sd Providence Critchfield, her heirs and assigns forever a certain track, or parcel of land Eighty acres be the Same more or less lying and being in the State of Tennessee Beginning, on a black oak Pleasant Owens Corner Runing Eastwdly on the Conditionall Line to a beach on the bank of Tates Branch ajoining hte Land of Daniel Sowder thence down Sd, branch teh old tyown Creek thence Running with Wm. McBee Line up the Creek to Daniel Sharps Line thence with Sharps to the Creek thence on Jwbal Lee Line to the begining including the Land formally ownd by Dct Peter Clark with all and Singular the wods waters water Courses Heredetrements inpertencincess, whatsoever to the sd tract or parcell of land belonging or in any wse appertaining those two togeather with all the improvements Rites Rents and profits mines minerals and Every part and parcel there of or in any wise appertaining Either Nachural or artificial to the only proper use and benefit of her the Sd Providence Critchfield her heirs and assigns forever free from th Lawful Claim Set or demand of him the Sd. Pleasant Owens his heirs Executors and administrators and all and Every person or persons whatsoever Either in law or Equatty in testimony whereof I here unto Sety my hand and Seal this day and year above written.
