Phyllis Marie Clay died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, surrounded by her family at a hospital in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5001 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth.
Phyllis was born April 26, 1940, in Wichita, Kan., to Edward Walter Crumrine and Greta Marie Hupp. She was married to Dean C. Clay on Aug. 16, 1958, for 51 years. She graduated from Wichita High School East in May 1958. She attended Brigham Young University and graduated magna cum laude from Wichita State University in 1987 with a BA in music education.
Mr. and Mrs. Clay moved to Fort Worth in June 2001. Phyllis volunteered as church organist, choir director, Dallas temple ordinance worker and family history librarian. She dedicated her life to family, genealogy research and teaching piano and violin.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter, LaDean C. Clay, on Dec. 3, 1960.
Survivors: Husband, Dean C. Clay of Fort Worth; children, Mrs. Alan H. (Lois) Brown of Fort Worth, Mrs. John P. (Ruth) Hauser of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. John P. (Kimerlee) Burrough of Iola, Kan., Edward W. Clay of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Mrs. Arthur C. (Elizabeth) Lundwall of Rowlett and George P. Clay of Plano; and 11 grandchildren;
