ort Worth – Dean C Clay died Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 9:00 am with his loving wife by his side at a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Dean was born March 3, 1940 in Hutchinson, KS, to George Phillips Clay and Dorothy Anna Cliff. He was married to Phyllis Marie Crumrine Clay for 51 years and Barbara Nell Eldridge Clay for 7 years. He graduated from Wichita High School East, May 1958. He Graduated from Brigham Young University, May 25, 1962 with a BS in Youth Leadership and Minor in Personnel Management. While attending BYU he was President of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. Dean served as District Scout Executive in Colorado and Kansas, was an entrepreneur with various endeavors in Printing, Sales, Woodworking & Restoration, and Managing a Computer Training School in Kansas, Florida, and Texas. Dean served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many callings including Counselor in 2 Stake Presidencies, Ward Bishop, High Council Member, Church Social Services, Stake/Ward Young Men President, Ward Mission Leader, Seventies Group Leader, Gospel Doctrine Sunday School Teacher, Seminary Teacher, Scout Master, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, and served in the Dallas Temple as an ordinance worker. Scouting has played a major role in Dean’s life he earned Webelos Award in Cub Scouting, Eagle Boy Scout, Explorer Silver Award, Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow, Woodbadge Ast. Deputy Camp Chief, Duty to God Award, Deseret Recognition Church Awards. He attended the 1953 National Jamboree and served on the International Relationships Staff of the 1960 and 1964 National Jamborees. Dean was proceeded in death by his daughter LaDean C Clay Dec 3, 1960, and his wife Phyllis Marie Crumrine Clay on September 7, 2009. Eldridge, Arlington, TN., Christopher T. Eldridge, Mansfield, TX.; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 4 Beagles.
