    John Smith's will was written on 23 December 1788 with a codicil added on 6 May 1796 leaving sons: John Smith, Jr., William Smith, Rees Smith, Moses Smith and daughter Phoebe Fry (wife of John Fry) lands at Turkey Spring on Opequon Creek. He named his wife Elizabeth in his will. [Berkeley County, West Virginia Will Book 3, pg. 145].
