    MRS. C. J. WINFREY DEAD

    FORMER RESIDENT OF COLOMA COMMUNITY DIED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
    Mrs. Minnie Smart received word Wednesday afternoon of the death of her aunt, Mrs. C. J. Winfrey of Corder, who passed away at her home at that place Tuesday after a lingering illness.
    Mrs. Winfrey's maiden name was Cowles and she was born near Coloma and lived in that community until she was a young lady. About 50 years ago she was married to C. J. Winfrey, a native of Carroll County. They made their home in Carroll county until about 35 years ago when they moved to Corder where they have since resided.
    Mrs. Winfrey was the mother of nine children, five of them with her husband survive her. They are: Mrs. Grace Westerhouse of Lees Summit; Delmar, James, and Bert of Corder and Clayborne of St. Joseph. The ones who preceded her in death were: Mrs. Angie Viles, Mrs. Nell Leftwich, Mrs. Elizabeth Garrison and a small son Ebbie.
