SAUNDERS, Rev. Dr. Philip P. The Beloved Rev. Doctor Philip P. Saunders, 66, of Manchester, passed from this life on Tuesday, (June 30, l998) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wakefield, Carlton County, New Brunswick, Canada on December 3, 1931 to the late Eldon B. and Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) McHatten Saunders. He leaves four living brothers, Roy and Raymond of British Columbia, Canada, Lloyd of Alberta, Canada and Ralph of Connecticut; predeceased by a brother, Glen; and a sister, Madeline McQuarrie. He leaves his wife, Mable P. (Calbery) Saunders of 46 years and eight living children and spouses: Weldon and Jeanna Saunders of Tolland, Mary (Saunders) and Thomas Dion of Manchester, Marie (Saunders) and Stephen Satagaj of Tolland, Eleanor (Saunders) and Jerry Kalinsky of Manchester, Esther (Saunders) Taylor of Manchester, Samuel and Heidi Saunders of Tolland, David and Maria Saunders of Manchester and James Saunders of Manchester. He was pre- deceased by a son, Peter Saunders. He has 14 beloved grandchildren: Weldon Jr. and Kathleen Saunders, Emily (Mean) and Jeffrey Montanari, Amy and Beth Mean, Benjamin and Esther Satagaj, Brian and Melissa Taylor, Lauren and Samuel Jr. Saunders, Eric and Jennifer Saunders and Peter Saunders. Other family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and step grandchildren. Dr. Philip Saunders was the Founder and Pastor of the Full Gospel Interdenominational Church, Inc. and World-Wide Lighthouse Missions, Inc. of Manchester. He was widely known and recognized for his unselfish love and compassion for humanity both here at home and around the world. From the day he gave his life to his Saviour, Jesus Christ, he never counted his life to be his own and millions live today because he was willing to share the love of Jesus Christ through his life, and gave his all for them. He will always be greatly missed by his treasured congregations and friends, both here at home and around the world. He will live in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be Tuesday, (July 7), 10 a.m. at the Full Gospel Interdenominational Church, 745 Main St., Manchester, with burial in the East Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church, Monday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the World-Wide Lighthouse Missions, Inc., 723 Main St., P.O. Box 2100, Manchester, 06045. His work and labours of love will be carried on through his dedicated workers. Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, has care of arrangements. |
