PHILIP was probably born on his father's farm, just west of the town of Urbana. The 1920 Census says he was born in Michigan, and indeed his father had briefly moved there around this time. His first cousin, also named Philip (Lauer), was born in 1856, and apparently lived all his life in Urbana, Indiana. He also has a WeRelate page.

At some point, Philip moved to the city of Wabash. He lived at 553 Gillen Avenue, and 556 Shea.

His burial at Falls Cemetery, is not far from his mother, and cousin Samuel; and not far from their cousin Carl Lower, in the southwestern part of the cemetery.
