BIOGRAPHY: Religion, Quaker. Came to Virginia from Holland about 1732. 1775 moved to Loudon Co.,VA Left 1798. Thomas Irey email says arrived from Wales about 1732.

Thomas Irey: He "refused to qualify" in a book I found as a member of the Virginia militia during the Revolutionary War, meaning that as a "possible" Quaker (wife was?) that he didn't want to fight But he's listed as a corporal. "Virginia Militia in the Revolution under Section 269 - Loudoun: Irey, Philip, Cp., R. March 9, 1778 - refused to qualify"
