Husband, father, brother and grandfather. Son of Howard Baldwin Crittenden and Alberta (Gamber) Crittenden. Philip was the grandson of the famous Union Civil War Brigadier General, Thomas Turpin Crittenden.

Retired attorney Philip Crittenden, a native San Diegan and son of a pioneer San Diego family, died Saturday at Mercy Hospital. He was 72. In earlier years he was active in Boy Scout Council matters and was past master of the John D. Spreckels Masonic Lodge, past commander of the Knights Templar and a member of various other Masonic organizations. He was the son of H.B. Crittenden, a developer active in the planning and development of the Hillcrest area, and was a member of the original building committee of the Cuyamaca Club. A retired lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, Mr. Crittenden was past commander of the Department of California of the Military Order of the World Wars and a member of its Cajon Valley-San Diego chapter. Survivors include his wife, two sons, a brother, and six grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
