↑ During his time serving as a steward on the Blue Train he met a number of famous persons including many members of the South African Cabinet and Parliament. During the 1930's and 1940's many cabinet members and MP's travelled to Parliament in Cape Town, South Africa by train.

It was also fashionable at the time to conduct model shoots on the Blue Train and Petrus appeared in many photos taken during such shoots which appeared in well known South African magazines such as Huisgenoot.
