WILL: IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN On the 4th day of November in the year of Our Lord 1773: I Peter Young of the Township of Nockamixon in the County of Bucks & provence of Pennsylvania. Being Sick and Weak in Body but of sound mind and memory: do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament. In form and manner as Followeth: Principally and first of all I Recommend my Soul Unto God who Gave it: and my Body to the Earth To Be Buried in a Christian like and Decent Manner at the discretion of my Executors: And [6 illegible words]. Pleased God to bless me with in this life: I Give Bequeath & Divide and Dispose of the Same in the following manner Imprimis[illegible letters] It is my will that all my Just Debts and funeral Charges be Paid and Discharged: Item I give and Bequeath to my beloved wife Catherine the one Third part of all the profits of my Personal Estate and one third part of all the profits of the Sale or arising from the Sale of my Land or Plantation which John Leonard no lives on [which I Order To be sold or lett as my Exts. Shall after my Decease at any Time Think fit] Also Her bed & bedding and All her Apperral or Clothing To be at Her Disposal During her Natural life and as or before her Death The Same. Also the Third part of all sorts of Grain Raised on the place I Now live on: half an acre of flax - Every Year; one Third part of the profits of the Orchard; And free Liberty in the whole House as long as She Remains My widow or Continues (3 illegible words). Also I give and bequeath to my said wife one Horse as she shall see fitt to Choose, her saddle and bridle and the Aditional Sum of one Third part of One Hundred Pounds which my Son hereinafter mentiontioned [sic] is to pay out of My Mansion House & Estate Devised to him To Dispose of the Same as She Sees Cause: and the Remainder to be Divided among my Daughters as herein after Mentioned. Item I Divise and Bequeath To My Son Jacob And to his heirs and forever, the Plantation I now live on with the Appurtenances Thereof To be [illegible word] In Possesion therof when he arives at the full age of Twentyone Years; he [illegible word] And paying out of the Same The Sum of One Hundred Pounds for the Use of His mother and Sisters. The same to be paid The one half or fifty pounds [2 illegible words] answerable age of Eighteen Years and the Other Half [several illegible words]; also One horse or more as he may Choose when of beforesaid age of 21 years and My Saddle & bridle, * Cloths, and Gun: And Large German Bible: My ditto {German}: Common Prayer book I give to my beloved wife. Item I give and Bequeath to My Daughter Cathrine now Cathrine Pearson The Sum of Twenty Shillings And to The Children of her Body Born I Give and Bequeath Ten Pounds Less than one of my Daughters Shares to be Equally Divided Among them After their Mothers Decease If in Case She May [word not copied] In No Need thereof; but If her Husband were Dead and she left a widow
Page 2 And in danger of Suffering She is to make use of said Bequeathment to her Children: But If Their mother Should Die first before their Father Then the Money is to be Delivered to the Children or their Guardian. Their said Father upon Giving Security to my Sat. If they See Cause Have liberty to let him have the Money when it Can be Collected and That Clear of interest the Time aforesaid: It is also to be Noted that my [illegible word] daughter is to have their Cloaths Bodds Beding & [entire line illegible] My Said Daughter & her Children Namely Cathrine Pearson which I hereby Give and Bequeath To My Daughters Mary Margret Susana: and Sarah - in Equal Shares: with the liberty of the Uper Room in my Dwelling house and in the Kitchen while They Or any of them Remain Unmarried. My Daughters Mary & Margret Being of Age and having their Chest & Cloathes already are not to be appraised: and my will is that they are to work for themselves and the benefit of Each other and not part Untill They may See fitt to Marry The Ext. to allow them what is reasonable for their Labour Done on the place or for the maintainance of the family: And to be Paid their Shares Respectively as soon as the Ext. can Make Money off the goods and land all the flax , wool, woolen & linnen Cloth Now in the house and on the place My wish is that it not be Inventoried: but Spun and Made Up and Divided among My beloved wife and Children Unmarried as my said wife Sees Cause or Need - And further to my Son Jacob and Daughter Susana I Bequeath My English Books to be Divided In Equal Shares: My Said Daughters Susana and Sarah are to work on the place and abide on the same Untill My said son Comes To the said age of 21 years and thereafter to be at the Direction of Their Mother And I Do Strictly Enjoyn of My Tender Children to be true and faithful to Each Other and Obdient to their Mother And my [illegible word] further is that all the Cattle Horses: Wagons and Implements of Husbandry and other goods which My Ext. may See proper to Withold for the Benefit of Carying On the Busines of Farming shall not be praised Nor Sold untill my Son afforesaid Comes of age and then to be Sold and Divided as aforesaid And all the Grain of Every sort Either in House or barn my writ is that it be not appraised But Sold to pay Debts and to Maintain the family Also the Children Under Age are to be Cloathed and Brot up Turn over brot over to Page 3 In a Decent manner: without any Charge against one another or the Estate Whatsoever: And Lastly I do Make ordain Constitute and appoint My Beloved wife Cathrine and Edward Shimour of the County of Northampton in the Provence of Pennsylvania My true and Lawful Executors of this my last will and Testament and Do Hereby Utterly Disalow Disanull Revoke and make Void all other wills Legacies Testaments and [illegible word] by me anyways before this Named Willed or Bequeathed Ratifying & Confirming this and No other to be my last Will and Testament.
