Disputed lineage

A book published in 1912[1] claims that he was the son of Jan Thomasse Van Dyck and Tryntje Haegen, and was born and died in New Utrecht, but more recent research (cited in Find A Grave) does not mention him.

The only mention of a Peter/Pieter Van Dyck in this time period in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record is Pieter (or Pietre) Van Dyck son of Dirck Franzen Van Dyck baptized 17 Aug 1684 (New York Genealogical and Biographical Record 30:58) who had 2 wives (neither an Annetje).
