"Peter Prescott was keeper of the town herd at Salem Village in 1674. His name appears on a list of 'Souldiers that are Impressed out of the two foot Companys of Salem … 1 Decemb[er] 1675' during King Philip's War. He was taxed 2s. in Salem on 16 April 1683. Peter Prescot's name appears (without mention of wife Elizabeth) among those who, on 10 Nov. 1689, petitioned for dismissal from the 1st Church of Salem so that they 'might be a Church [in Salem Village] of themselves for themselves and their children,' with Mr. Parris chosen and ordained as their pastor."
