Peter G. Morrow enlisted in "Franklin Volunteers" (Heard County),Army of Northern Virginia on May 31, 1861 as a Private. He was discharged on December 5, 1862 after his brother James E. Morrow substituted for him. James was taken prisoner at Knoxville, Tennessee on December 20, 1863. He died of typhoid fever in the Military Prison Hospital at Knoxville, Tennessee on December 26, 1863. [From Civil War records in George Archives] [It’s possible “James” might be “Joseph” - James appears to be living in 1870 and 1880 with Eliza, whereas Joseph is unaccounted for.]
