_PHOTO: I have said when he came to America he was a widower [see Ryberg Inhabitants St Croix Listings for conflicting info) and the father of two sons. I never heard anything of his first wife but believe she was a relation. His sons Abraham JR and Peter were soon after his second marriage brought to this country where they received the best education the country afforded. They were then sent to Dublin and finished there in the college which was then so celebrated... Peter, brother of Abraham JR, received a first rate education having distinguished himself at the Dublin College. As his tastes were literary and in the dramatic line, he wrote many plays. One called "The Patriot Chief" of which I believe Washington was the hero was not without merit, and when offered to Hallam, then the theatrical manager, he, although desirous of pleasing the son of a rich man, pronounced it entirely "without stage effect". - Reminiscences of Mary Hazlehurst Ashhurst (1806-1890) References
