His obituary was found online at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mennobit/index.html, acollection of obituaries from the the HERALD of TRUTH, a Mennonitenewspaper of note. On the 22nd of September, in Allen county, Ohio, of rheumatism in the chest, Bro. Peter Hartman, aged 71 years and 2 months less one day.He was buried on the 24th at the Riely Creek Meeting- house. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his departure; but we hopetheir loss is his eternal gain. This aged brother was a member of the Mennonite church, and a defender of the truth. Most of the time for three months he was confined to bed, but bore his affliction with christian patience and resignation. We believe that he made a happy transition into that celestial abode, and is now resting from all his labors, where pain and affliction are known no more. Funeral remarks were delivered by Christian Cul, Abraham Steiner and Christian P.Steiner from Rev. 14:13. D. BOESINGER.

Peter and Hannah had three children alive in 1871, according to his obituary. The family moved from the Ashland Co., OH area to the AllenCo., OH area around 1850.
