Peter Fleck who came to this America as a ward, and nephew of Johann George Philipp Gemmer. His father was Phillip Henrich Fleck and his mother was Katherina Elizabetha Gemmer. Katherina is the sister to Johann Georg Philipp and Justus Gottfried Gemmer. Peter's mother, Katherina, died 18 February 1842, when Peter was an infant and as the church files state his father died soon after. "Peter was born 16 May 1836 in Rettert, Duchy of Nassau Germany. When Peter Fleck was 13 years old he came to America as the 1850 Ohio census states. Peter Fleck married Katherina Gemmer, his first cousin, in 1859, a daughter of Johann Georg Gemmer and Katherina Margaretha Ltober, his wife. (Note: Her name was actually Katherina Margaretha Stitzer or Stotzer.) Their marriage was blessed with 10 children. In 1908 the couple celebrated their golden wedding (50 years) anniversary. Katherina died on 7 February 1913, and with her passing Peter due to grief and the strain of the funeral joined his companion in life and then in death on 20 February 1913 at the age of 76 years. Mrs. Katherina Gemmer Fleck was born in Rettert, Duchy of Nassau Germany on 02 May 1834". In the 1850 Ohio census she is 16 years of age. She died of heart failure, after a short illness, at the age of 78 years of age and left six sons, two daughters and fifteen grandchildren.

Mr. Peter Fleck Sr. died in living faith February 10 at 10:10 am. He was born May 16, 1836 in Rettert, Duchy of Nassau, to Philipp Peter Fleck and his wife, nee Gemmer. He had the heavy misfortune of being orphaned at a young age. In his 13th year he came to this country with his guardian Philipp Gemmer, at first to Tuscarawas County where he was confirmed by pastor Abele. Later he came to Indiana to this area. Here he married Katharina Gemmer in 1859. Their marriage was blessed with 10 children, 2 of whom died early. The main part of his character was faithfulness and simple, child-like faith. He was a praying Christian. In 1908 he had the joy of celebrating his golden wedding with his wife and family. Shortly before his wife's death 2 weeks ago, he had a cold and due to the grief over her death and the strain of the funeral, his illness became worse and accelerated the end, to which he looked forward in prayerful faith. He died at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 4 days, and leaves 6 sons, 2 daughters, and 15 grandchildren. Funeral text: Gen. 24:5-6.
