  13. Peter told a story about working on a pole when his supervisor asked him to connect a wire and it cut off power to the street houses. "You should have seen zem frenchmen come out of the houses"

  16. moved between the census and when William was born. Peter built their home near the end of the trolley run out of town
  17. working on a broken electrical pole. It crashed to the ground and he jumped off a few feet above the ground. The incident crushed his ankles and he was hospitalized. Then went home to recover. He wasn't expected to walk again
  18. about 1 1/2 years after his accident Peter got a job in the railroad roundhouse. He issued tools to repairmen. Mother Barker was protestant and Erma went to Sunday school. On the Sunday when Erma was to be sprinkled Peter came along to be "religious" with family. He read the family Bible on his own until Oscar Menzle at the roundhouse asked to study with him. Oscar was a backslidden Seventh-day Adventist and knew about the Sabbath. When Peter discovered it they both started keeping it. Peter called Oscar his first convert!

  20. CT Everson held an effort in Kansas City. Peter attended and became enthused with the Seventh-day Adventist message and wanted to bring it back to his family in New Albany. Peter Barker's conversion story is written in book "Bricks for Sale" by Josephine Cunnington Edwards
