- Paul McKeever, son of Darby and Rachel Edwards McKeever, was born about 1745-8 and was perhaps 12 years of age at his father's death. No doubt that he spent a serious and laborious boyhood, and far more than his share of responsibility which served him well - for by his two marriages he was to have a very large family. He married (1) Miss Cheshire, daughter of Samuel and Ann Cheshire. Upon the early census of Hampshire County, Virginia, there wer 9 souls in his household in 1782, and 10 souls therein on the 1784 census, which generally translates into 7 children in 1782 and eight in 1784, and we can account for 7 of these children.
- The first wife of Paul died and Paul married (2) Margaret Swietzer, daughter of Johannes and Anna Maria (Hawk) Swietzer, on 12 Feb 1794. Margaret was born in 1770 (age given as 80 years on the 1850 census of Hampshire County).
