Frances MCGRIGOR married 8jun1818 (Landed Gentry, however wrong spouse) Patrick MURRAY. Patrick was b. abt 1795 and d. 1836 (source?), son of Andrew Murray, surgeon in Crieff (matriculation albums, Glasgow University). In 1811 PO directory: Alex M’Grigor and Patrick Murray, writers, 177 Trongate (suggests earlier birth than 1795). PO dir 1820: Alexander M’Grigor, Patr. Murray (ho. 10 Carlton Pl.), Alex M’Grigor, jun., writers, 29 Virginia St. PO dir 1831: Alex M’Grigor, Alex, jun., of M’Grigor, Murray and M’Grigor, West St. Vincent St., ho. 3 Milton Pl. This is probably not Patrick’s father: Will of Andrew Murray, surgeon in the service of East India Co., reg 1840 Edinburgh (scotlandspeople). Patricius Murray (No. 7422, mat 1807) f. n. quintus Andrew Murray, Chirurg, Crefae, Perth. Born 1787. Writer in Glasgow. Died Langside, 31jul1836. Partner and brother in law of 7327, whose sister Frances he marr at Langside ?jun1818. Father of 13576, 14265, 14857, 15158, 15865 (matriculation albums, Glasgow). Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine, 1818: marriage at Langside, Patrick Murray, Glasgow writer, to Frances, only daughter of Alex M’Grigor, writer there. Langside was the summer resicence of Alexander McGrigor (b. 1772) (Old Glasgow Essays, 1905, by Mitchell). Scottish archives have the wills of Patrick Murray, writer, res. in Glasgow, spouse is Mrs. Frances McGrigor or Murray, reg. 27jan1837, Glasgow and of Frances Murray alias McGrigor, res. at St. Georges Rd., relict of Patrick Murray, Glasgow writer, reg. 11may1850 Glasgow (scotlandspeople).
