Oscar James Hughes, 85, of Joker, died Jan. 22, 1954.
He was born on Mar. 14, 1868, in Doddridge County, the son of the late Charles and Miranda Brown Hughes.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Roberts Hughes, whom he married on Mar. 14, 1901; three sons, Cecil Hughes at home, Oral Hughes of Charles Town and Ersel Hughes of Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter, Opal Miller of Joker; two grandchildren, Delma Dawson of Joker and Velma Dillard of Alexandria, Va.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted by Rev. Gayle McHenry and C.D. Miller.
