... Orlando, born January 1, 1827. See special biography. ...
... ORLANDO HAMILTON, second son and third child of Cyrus Hamilton, was born in Decatur County, Ind., January 1, 1827. He was reared upon his father's farm, having slight educational advantages obtained from such sources as were afforded then. On the 1st of June, 1860, he married Sarah E., daughter of Dr, Cornelius and Eliza Ann Cain, of Clarksburg. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton began housekeeping on a farm near the old home, in the vicinity of Kingston, where they remained several years, until he exchanged farms with T. L. Donnell, of Rush County, Ind., which property he rented and engaged in the fruit-preserving business at Cleveland, Ohio, as senior partner of the firm of Hamilton & Cain. From this time forward to the year 1875, when he purchased his present farm, his attention was more or less divided between his Cleveland business and his estate in Rush County. During this period, he resided much of the time m Cleveland. Rev. B. M. Nyce, a brother-in-law, was the inventor and patentee of the special methods employed by this firm. He was also interested in the enterprise to a certain extent At the time he bought the place where he now resides, Mr Hamilton disposed of his interest in the Cleveland business to Mr. Cam, and turned his attention to home improvements. His farm contains 360 acres of fine land, lying a little northeast of Kingston, upon which he built one of the finest brick residences in the county. This house was erected in 1877. It is situated on the north side of the Greensburg & Clarksburg Turnpike.

Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton have no children of their own, but have cared for several. They have two by adoption
    - Edward, who came to live with them in 1874; and
    - Cora, who came in 1875. Of these, Cora is the eldest.

Mr. Hamilton and his wife are members of the Presbyterian Church, at which they are regular attendants. They are also active workers in the Sunday school and all kindred efforts for the betterment of society. He is a man of considerable business experience, and has been successful in his various undertakings. Possessed of a genial nature, he preserves the memory of his kindred and friends to an extent quite pleasant to know in this age of soulless business relations. ...
