The New York Times, Saturday, January 21, 1967, Page 27: “OLIVER C. GARDINER Oliver C. Gardiner, treasurer of William Sloane House of the Young Men’s Christian Association here from 1930 to 1949, died of a heart attack Thursday [i.e. Thursday, January 19, 1967] at the Andrew Freedman Home, 1125 Grand Concourse, the Bronx, where he lived. He was 88 years old. Mr. Gardiner was previously credit manager of Sherman Sons & Co., Manhattan cotton goods wholesalers. He was formerly an elder of the First Reformed Church in Jamaica, Queens. He was a widower.”
