A letter dated, Oct 3, 1924, from Olivea Alexander Mather Lacey states that she, Olivea, is the great-great-granddaughter of Asenath Alexander Roberts, daughter of Olivea Wooten and Samuel Alexander Jr.(III). She says that she is named for this Olivea as is her great grandmother, Olivea Alexander Roberts. This should prove that Olivea Wooten is the wife of Samuel Alexander Jr./III. Olivea Mathers Lacey did join the DAR so her papers may have more accurate birth information if she had access to a family bible. She is generally accepted as the daughter of James Wooten of Johnston Co., NC. and Faitha Rogers, as per p.14, Wooten & Related Families Assoc. Quarterly Vol IV No I Mar 1984.

bet 1755-1760 - her birth date would have about this time. I am guessing she is the eldest girl, in that she married the eldest of the three Alexander boys who married her and her sisters.

A date of 1759 is given in the House Journal of Georgia 1796 under Samuel Alexander Jr.; This reference of 1759 was copied from the LDS microfilmed notes of Mrs. Sarah Standifer. I have not seen this source and don't know what the House Journal of Georgia is and when it was written.

To prove her marriage to Samuel Alexander and her descent from James Wooten there is a deed in 1791 by Samuel Alexander of Wilkes Co., Georgia "giving to my loving friend and relations Phereby Wooten of Wilkes..." his 1/8th share in the Estate of James Wooten "that shall fall to me as my wife's legacy of said estate" {Warren Co Georgia Deed Bk A p.469 from p.14 Wooten & Related Families Assoc. Quarterly Vol IV No1 1984]. She is not named, but is clearly a daughter of James Wooten as Asa Alexander wrote a similar deed, naming his wife, Faitha. James Alexander identifies his wife as Tabitha in his will made 5 Sept. 1791 (Greene Co. Ordinary, Wills, Appraisements Book I p174). Several years later Tabitha deeds her 1/8th claim in the estate of James Wooten, deceased to her "loving friend and relation Clarey Wooten (Hancock Co. Deed Book A p240. Three sisters married three brothers. This information about the deeds is from "Wooten and Related Families Association" Quarterly IV, p14. Samuel does not name Olivea in the above deed, unfortunately, but Olivea makes up the eighth child, with Lt. Thomas Wooten, of Georgia and the other known children in Georgia--as per the 1/8 division of the estate..

Samuel's will was written 9 Dec. 1819 in Twiggs, Co., Georgia. In it he names his four children who were born to Olivea, the girls with their married names, and his current wife, Susannah Bush widow of John Bush, Greene Co., Georgia, Wills & Appraisements, BK 4 p81.
