Odelia Whittle, 90, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 1994, in McGregor after a short illness. Services: 11 am Monday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 pm Sunday at Schultz's Funeral Home, where there will be a Scripture service at 7:30 and rosary at 7:45 pm.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard; two daughters, Rose Mary Binns of Council Bluffs and Darlyn Griffith of Des Moines, a son, Adelbert of Monona, and a sister, Teresa O'Hara of Alexandria, Va.

Odelia Mary Whittle

Odelia Mary Whittle, daughter of Godfred and Frances (Beerman) Fassbinder, was born Feb. 17, 1904, at Guttenberg, Clayton County, Iowa. She died Thursday, Feb. 17, 1994, at McGregor, Iowa. She was 90.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Church and attended St. Mary's parochial school. She was united in marriage June 18, 1923, to Bernard L. Whittle at St. Mary's Church in Guttenberg. To this union were born four children, Rose Mary, Adelbert, Darlyn and Bernard Jr. They were blessed to have celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 18, 1993. They farmed in Giard Township until 1951, at which time they moved to Monona. Odelia was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Rosary Society, Senior Citizens Club and Garden Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Bernard M. Whittle; a great-granddaughter, Anna; one brother and three sisters. Survivors are her husband, Bernard; two daughters and their husbands, Rose Mary and Glenn Binns of Council Bluffs and Darlyn and Don Griffith of Des Moines; one son and his wife, Adelbert and Darlene Whittle of Monona; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Whittle of Luana; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 21, 1994, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona. Celebrants were Father John Moran and Msgr. Donald Heineman. Pallbearers were James Keehner, Douglas Whittle, Larry Whittle, Mike Geraghty, Mark Turczynski, Bruce Whittle, Hubert Berns, Leo Berns, George Erbe and Tom Wagner. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.
