OBITUARY FROM BURLINGTON TIMES-NEWS: Obie Tyson Johnson, Sr. - (Malachi > George > Henry > Wesley > Mary Inez) GRAHAM — Mr. Obie Tyson Johnson, Sr., 85, 722 Oakgrove Dr., died at 10:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Alamance after several years of failing health, four weeks critical. A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Mrs.. Carmen Beaver Johnson, who survives, and the son of Mr. William Henry Johnson and Mrs.. Mary Inez Isley Johnson, both deceased. He was a retired knitter for Kelwood Hosiery and a former member of the Burlington Moose Lodge. Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Mr. O. Tyson Johnson Jr.. of the home and Mr. Dennis R. Johnson of Statesville; and three grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by a son, Mr. David L. Johnson; two sisters, Mrs.. Guy (Myrtle) Brewer and Mrs.. Thadeous (Bessie) Brewer; and five brothers, Mr. Paul Johnson, Mr. Clyde Johnson, Mr. Dwight Johnson, Mr. Robert Johnson and Mr. Alton Johnson. There will be no funeral service. The family will be at the home from 6 to 8 this evening. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, P.O. Box 2122, Burlington, N.C. 27216, or the Alamance County Rescue Unit, P.O. Box 615, Graham, N.C. 27253. Rich and Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
