    DR. N.W. DOWELL DIES SUDDENLY
Suffered Heart Attack at 9 o'Clock Last Night and Died at Midnight.

Dr N W Dowell, osteopathic physician, died unexpectedly in his apartment, 611 1/2 Locust street, at midnight last night, three hours after he had suffered a heart attack. Dr Dowell was stricken shortly after he had administered to a patient. The body is at the Norman Funeral Home.

Dr Dowell was born April 9, 1886 in the southeast part of Livingston County near Hale. He was a son of the late Mr and Mrs E S Dowell, the latter's death occurring one year ago April 4 and Mr Dowell's death occurred April 22, 1940.

He taught school several years before he began the study of medicine. He was graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathy in June, 1917, coming to Chillicothe where he began his practice and where he had since resided.

Dr Dowell made many friends during his residence in Chillicothe. His work among the poorer class of people in the city and county has been an outstanding monument to his profession.

Besides his wife, Mrs LaFaye Dowell, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs O E [Myrtle] Simpson and Mrs M R [Audra] James, both of this city, and four brothers, C A Dowell and Ralph Dowell, Grand Junction, Colorado; S Taylor Dowell of this city and Richard Dowell, Meadville, several nephews and nieces, among them being [Burnis] Meredith Dowell of Utica, son of the late B B Dowell.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Norman Funeral Home Friday morning at 10 o'clock by Reverend LaVerne L Rudolph, pastor of the First Christian Church. Interment will be in Edgewood.
