Nicholas Saul was first taxed in Douglas township, Berks Co, PA. In 1779,,he moved to West District Township, Berks Co.. His occupation was thatof a Rakemaker. (See Johan Nicholas Saul) In 1782 Nicholas Saul islisted as a taxable in Earl Township, NOTE! that in 1781 a petition wasmade for the portion of Oley Township know as the western district tobecome a separate township.

Will of Nicholas Saul

      In the Name of God Amen
  I, Nicholas Saul of Maidencreek Township, Berks County, in the Stateof Pennsylvania, sick, yet of sound mind declare herewith the followingto be my last will and Testament and depose as follows:
   First I commit my soul to Almighty God and my body to the earth andas to my present and to this worldly belonging possessions, I charge thatthey may be divided in the following manner:
   First , that all my property, real and personal shall remain for theuse and benefit of my wife Maria, nee Hartman, as long as she lives andbears my name, with the provisio that she satisfy the debts which may yetremain hereafter, and after death all property real and personal shall bedivided between my six children, Samuel, John, Jacob, Salome, Hannah andEsther in equal shares, with the provisio nevertheless that the twochildren of my wife, Elizabeth and Magdalene shall both receive andinherit after the death of my wife,twenty five pounds of Pennsylvaniamoney.
  Lastly , I declare and mention herewith my wife Maria and Jacob Reeserof the above named Township as executors of this my last Will andTestament so that all shall be carried out justly and as abovedesignated.
  In witness hereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal thistwentieth day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand eightHundred And Seventeen.
