- Some sources (for example, the pedigree chart in Thoroton) have this Nicholas as the father of Sir Robert Goushill, but the first three sources seem to conclusively rule this out. Nicholas' son and heir in 1402 was his eight-year-old son, also called Nicholas. (Robert didn't die until 1403.) Robert is explicitly named as the son of this Nicholas' father in more than one primary source. And Robert's daughter, Joan, gives the family relationships in a case from a plea roll (Reference 3).
