▼Facts and Events
I found the following article in Canada when I visited in Sept. of 1996 in a book titled History of Greenock Twp. THE NICHOLAS BRICK HOMESTEAD Nicholas Brick bought Lot 4, Con. 9 in Greenock Township from the Crown for $1,000 on January 20, 1876. He cleared timber and built a house near the road on top of a hill. He used water from a stone well dug nearby. A large barn was built in 1906 with quite a large straw shed. This barn was struck by lightening on July 16, 1958. The Nicholas Brick homestead was purchased in 1954 by Wilfred Brick from Albert and John Brick. The present house was built in 1921. Nicholas Brick was married to Barbara Phillippi of Chepstow in 1871. They had a family of six. Joseph Brick married Thresa Schmidt and resided on the 8th of Greenock. They had three children Madelene (Mrs. Bert Obreght, Walkerton): Anna (Mrs. Frank Clancy, Chepstow) and Maurice, married, at Walkerton. Mary married Jack Zister and resided on Con. 9. They had a family of eight: Sr. Barbara, Joe, William, Albert, Frank, Sr. Benita, Marie and Tony. Anthony Brick married Susie Schmidt and farmed on the 9th concession. He managed J.J. Donnelly's farm for 16 years. His family was: Wilfred, who married Hilda Anstett: Mildred, who married John Schnurr and Joan, who married Bill Illebrun. Albert Brick was a fireman at the Donnelly's saw mill and also fired for Ed Schmidt thrashing for farmers. Jack Brick worked at home. The sixth member of the Nicholas Brick family was a baby girl who died in infancy.
