Nellie E. Petersen 1929-2001 CHEYENNE, Okla. -- Nellie E. Petersen, mother of David Petersen of Snyder, died Saturday, July 14, in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne, Okla. Graveside service was set for 10 a.m. today at White Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Alberta Helton officiating. Burial was to follow at White Rose Cemetery. Mrs. Petersen attended school at Rankin, Okla., and entered the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps in August, 1942. She married John Reynolds Petersen at Reydon, Okla., on Nov. 24, 1946 and they made their home in the Reydon community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie and George Washington Easterling; her husband, John Petersen in 1990; and two brothers, Arcie and Howard Easterling. Survivors also include a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Petersen of Snyder; another son and daughter-in-law, John and Teresa Petersen of Pawnee, Okla.; one sister, Georgie Hughes of Joplin, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Tracie, Jill and Christy. Nellie E. Petersen was born June 21, 1920 in Rankin, Oklahoma to Frankie and George Washington Easterling. She passed away July 14, 2001 in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years and 23 days. Nellie attended school at Rankin, Oklahoma. She entered the Woman's Army Auxillary Corps in August of 1942. She married John Reynolds Petersen at Reydon, Oklahoma on November 24, 1946 and they remained in the Reydon community to make their home. Nellie enjoyed yard work, her flower garden and vegetable gardening. She was prceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1990, 2 brothers Acie and Howard Easterling. Graveside Services were held Wednesday July 18, 2001 at 10:00 AM at White Rose Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Alberta Helton. Burial was at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Survivors include: two sons, John Petersen and wife Teresa of Pawnee, OK, and David Petersen and wife Dorothy of Snyder, TX; three grandchildren, Tracie, Jill and Christy; one sister, Georgie Hughes of Joplin, MO.; hosts of relatives and friends.
