Acie Wayne Easterling age 65, of Sayre passed away Thursday, May 27, 1982 in Sayre Hospital. Memorial services were held on Tuesday June 1, 1982 at the Reydon First Baptist Church with Eddie Overstreet and the Army Chaplain officiating. The Burial was performed in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of The Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Sayre. Acie was born June 1, 1916 in Trinidad, Colorado. At the age of two, he and his family moved to Rankin, Oklahoma. He graduated from Reydon High School. In 1937 he moved to California. He married Margaret Marie Peterson on November 13, 1938 in Holbrook, Arizona. They made their home in Riverside, California. Acie entered the U.S. Army in 1943 where he served for 20 years as an Army Engineer. During the Korean Conflict he received a Silver Star, and a Purple Heart. During Acie's military career, he served 9 years in Europe, 3 years in Germany and 6 years in France. He was a member of the American Legion of Reydon, Oklahoma. Mr. Easterling retired from the Army as a Master Sargent on August 1, 1963. After retiring he worked as a maintenance supervisor for Jurupa, California School systems, retiring again in 1977. They lived in Riverside, California until January 1979 when they moved to Sayre to make their home. Acie was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother. He is survived by his wife Margaret of the home, 1 son Jeffrey and wife Sheelagh of El Sobrante, California; 1 grandson Matthew Allen, also of El Sobrante; 1 brother, Howard Easterling of Miamia, Texas; 2 sisters, Nellie Petersen of Reydon, Oklahoma and Georgia Hughes of Ft. Worth, Texas.
