On August 30 2006 Neeltje Van Arkel of Englehart died at the Sudbury Hospital after having suffered a brain aneurysm.
She was born in Holland in 1947 to Peter and Ava Van Arkel.
Educated in St Marys and Stratford, she was a teacher in Hamilton, Ear Falls, Stratford and Milverton.
Ms Van Arkel, a member of the Living Way, had a love of family, crafts that were creative memories, reading and her two cats.
Ms Van Arkel is survived by her sister Ina Cook of Englehart; brothers Evert and Reine Van Arkel of St Marys; two nieces, four nephews, 11 great-nieces, and 13 great-nephews/
She was predeceased by her parents; uncle Case Van Arkel; brother-in-law Larry Cook; sister-in-law Linda Van Arkel.
The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart where the service was conducted September 3 by Pastor Peter Ruel.
Pallbearers were great-nephews Kevin and Adam Code, Justin, Jason and Joshua Cook, Steven Cobean.
Burial is at the Charlton Cemetery.
Relatives and friends from out of town came from Stratford and St Marys.
In memory contributions were made to the Englehart and District Hospital.
