"5. (Lt.) Nathaniel2 Bacon (Nathaniel1), born at Middletown about 1675, died there, 6 Jan. 1759; … He was baptized and owned the covenant, with two of his sisters, 11 May 1690; admitted to full communion 5 Jan. 1748/9. …
Nathaniel Bacon's will, dated 4 Oct. 1754, proved 18 Jan. 1758 [sic: he died 1759 by the town vital records), named his well beloved wife Rebecca who, besides other careful provision, was to have 'the use & improvement of my Negro Woman Tamar:; son Nathaniel Bacon, to have 200 acres bought of Mr. Hands, also what 'I have given him by deed: and 2/7 parts of 'all my Right in my father Thos Whitmores Estate'; son Benjamin Bacon to have specified land and 1/7 right in 'my father Wetmore's Estate' to grandson Jeremiah Bacon 'the Only son of my son Jeremiah Deced,' various land including land at Simsbury "that I bought of Thos Bacon Junr of Simsbury, and 1/7 right in my Father Wetmores Estate'; the grandson was to have 'my son' Nathaniel for guardian and a liberal education if he desires; to grandson David Bacon, various land including a right in Middlefield Society; to two daughters, Hannah and Mary; to the First Church in Middletown, £20. A codicil, dated 3 Dec. 1756, refers to his grandson Jeremiah Bacon, 'since his Mothers Marriage with Deacon Miller.' On 7 Jan. 1760, Thomas and Hannah Candee, and Hopestill and Mary Cruttenden, receipted to their brother Nathaniel Bacon for their legacies under the will of their father Nathaniel Bacon [Middletown Probate Records 1:277; 2:174)."
