Nathan David Cain was born in 1854 in the parish of St Paul's Walden in Hertfordshire, the son of Sarah Cain formerly Parsons and her husband Thomas Cain, a tanner. He appears in the 1861 census living with his parents, siblings and paternal grandfather there.

Nathan has yet to be researched after 1861.
