Mrs. Nancy EVANS was born in Highland County, Ohio, July 8, 1827, died at her home five and one-half miles southeast of McCune, Kansas, July 13, 1893, at 4:45 P.M., aged 66 years and 5 days.
She was the daughter of Israel F., and Elizabeth [SPRINKLE] WIRT. She moved while a small child with her parents to Randolph County, Indiana, was married at the age of 19 years to Aaron BOOTS, moved to Missouri in the year 1854, where she resided until the war. In 1861 [she] moved back to Indiana. She was left a widow in 1864; was married in Oct. 1881 to B. S. EVANS, who survives her. She was buried in the Star Valley Cemetery Sat. July 15, 1893. The funeral sermon was preached by Reb. Samuel Edgecomb of the German Baptist denomination in the Star Valley Church, of which she was for years a consistent member. At the time of her death she was a member of the New Light Christian Church. She lived a consistant Christian life; was a loving wife and mother, was loved and respected by all her neighbors. Her loss will b sadly felt by all, but most of all her aged husband. Six children by her first husband survive her: Mrs. Sarah LIFE, Hudsonville, Ills., Solomon BOOTS, Westphalia, Kans., Israel F. BOOTS, Ridgeville, Ind., Lewis BOOTS, Westphalia, Kans., Noah BOOTS, Westphalia, Kans., James A. BOOTS, McCune, Kansas. The husband and children have the sympathy of the entire community.
