5. Nancy (3) Tompkins married about 1798 [to] John Lyle, son of John and Isabella (Paxton) Lyle and brother of Mary Paxton Lyle wife of Col. James McDowell. John Lyle came to Kentucky from Virginia to locate a land claim for services rendered in the Revolution. He lived about four miles north of Lexington. Issue:

:He married second in 1827 [to] Mrs. Lucy A. Scott, daughter of Capt. James Allen and Sally McDowell. No issue.
:IV. Addison (4) LYle born in 1808; died in 1835 unmarried.
:V. Hester (4) Lyle born in 1811; died in 1871; married Lewis Hopkins Chrisman son of Joseph and Jane (Hopkins) Chrisman. He was a farmer and resided near Nicholasville, Kentucky. Issue:
